Susie Dee
Riley Simpson Daugherty
Mar 22, 1930 — Feb 10, 2026
Lebnaon
Susie Dee Riley Simpson Daugherty, age 95, of Lebanon, KY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday February 10, 2026 at Cooper Trail Senior Living- Memory Care in Bardstown.
She was born March 22, 1930 to the late John Wesley Riley and Venia Allen Mullins. Susie Dee, as she was known by her family and friends, was retired from the Mercer Dress Sewing factory in Harrodsburg, as well as being a farmer's wife until she moved from her farm.
She was the fourth of nine surviving children. She was proceeded in death by her siblings: Isabell Cook, Raymond Riley, John Riley, Virginia Arnold and Cleo Riley; her two husbands: Grover Simpson and Ray Daugherty; and her son Richard Simpson.
She is survived by her daughter Sandra(Tim) Cook; daughter-in-law Donna Simpson; her grandchildren: Jason(MJ) Simpson, Cassie (David) Carpenter, Josh (Tamesa) Cook and Aaron (Ina) Cook; and great-grandchildren: Adalyn, Gavin, Asher, Caradee, Everly, Leo, Landon and Teague Carpenter, Wyatt and Isla Simpson, Brinton and Kyla Cook and Clara Cook.
Also surviving are siblings: Amos (Barbara) Riley, Ann (Tommy) Willard, and Jimmy (Mary) Riley; with a host of nieces and nephews.
Susie Dee loved to take care of her family. She was very generous with her time, preparing the meals her family liked the best. She would always create large spreads with a variety of food and desserts to ensure everyone would enjoy what was provided. Her fried chicken, pot roast, lemon delight and chocolate pie were unrivaled. From family, to friends, to farmhands, everyone who entered her home left fed. Service and food were her love languages and she loved greatly.
She cherished her family and loved any chance to spend time with them. Whether she was sitting around the back porch reminiscing about past gatherings, playing games of Aggravation with anyone who would play, talking on the phone with loved ones not living nearby, or holding and cooing at one of her new great grandbabies, family was her greatest joy.
She was a woman of faith and loved to sing the old hymns and songs of her childhood and youth.
She was the best example of what a momma/mother and mamaw/grandmother should be. She gave honest, down to earth advice and always provided the care, protection, concern and love for her family's happiness and success. Her sweet spirit will be missed by all those blessed to feel her love.
