Obituary

Mildred 'Mimi' Noe Lancaster was blessed with a peaceful passing on October 18, 2021, at the age of 81.

Mimi had 7 children: Sarah Childers (Kenny), Charlie Lancaster (Michelle), Robert Lancaster (Leah) all of Lebanon, KY; Ben Lancaster (Tammy) of Orlando, KY; Mary Taylor (Jimmy) of Springfield, KY; JJ Lancaster (Sara) of Louisville, KY and Beth Cambron (Sam) of Loretto, KY.

Also surviving is one brother, Jere Noe (Kitty) of Danville, KY.

Mimi often said that when her children were little, she didn't know what she would do with all of them. Later in life, she would say that she didn't know what she would have done without them.  In addition to being a full-time mother, she was a sergeant with the grammar police.

She enjoyed horses, shoes, plants, finding comfortable clip-on earrings and winning at bridge and Shanghai rummy.  One of her goals in life was to not learn how to use the computer or text to which she succeeded!

Mimi was one of the best cooks in Marion County and was good at planning the next meal before finishing the current meal.  Her family was especially appreciative of that quality! She mastered the skill knowing how much to increase her insulin for after meals because this diabetic never met a dessert she didn't like.

Mimi grew up in Springfield, KY and in her youth, enjoyed dancing at the Jane Todd Inn (even skipped school one day to go there, but got caught by the nuns).  She also liked to partake in the product of her grandfather Jim Beam's labor and hanging out with the horse trainers at Kalarama Farm.

In her later years, social outings were a bit tamer and included going to Mass regularly (to repent for skipping school), almost daily trips to Kroger and finding the perfect satirical greeting card.

She was a true Southern Belle in the fact that she loved tea with lemon, tomato aspic, benedictine, had magnolia trees, got her hair done once a week and always had a tissue in her pocket or up her sleeve.

Mimi was very proud of her 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and loved making them her special 'homemade' noodle soup and grilled cheese sandwiches.  She could often be found in her sunroom teaching them the art of not being a sore loser while getting their little butts kicked by their ruthless card shark Memaw/Mimi.

Steeped in Catholic faith, Mimi came into this world with the nuns being born at Mary Immaculate hospital in Lebanon, was schooled by the nuns at St. Dominic and St. Catharine in Springfield and left this world living with the nuns at the Loretto Motherhouse. She shared her birthday with Jesus and is looking forward to a combined birthday party this year!

Mimi appreciated all the laughs and good times over the years with her family and friends (especially her bridge buddies) and this reflection of her life, which she helped pen, is a tribute to her good sense of humor.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Augustine School where all the Lancaster children and many of her grandchildren were educated and where Mimi was a pre-school volunteer for several years.

There will be a funeral Mass on Saturday, October 23 rd at 10:30 AM at St. Augustine Church in Lebanon, KY. Visitation will start at 8:30 AM on Saturday at the church with burial at the Springfield Cemetery immediately following the funeral service. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
