Mary Catherine Murphy, beloved mother and "Granny" passed away peacefully at her home on November 25, 2023, surrounded by her family. Mary was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and cherished her relationship with the Lord. As the matriarch of her family Mary worked many occupations but served as a caregiver for over 30 years. Mary had many talents like quilting embroidery, refurbishing furniture, and even dancing the jig. Mary was known for her meticulous supervision in the kitchen during the holidays and her infamous chicken salad. Mary loved classical country music, especially Hank Williams and the Malpass Brothers. Mary loved nothing more than a trip to Starbucks and taking a trip down memory lane, riding the backroads, and sharing stories of her past. Mary was truly one of a kind and sassy till the end. Her smile, laughter, kindness, and zest for life will be missed by all she knew her.

Mary was 87, born on June 24, 1936, at her home, in Dunnville, Kentucky to the late John Hamilton Hollon September 24, 1902, and Grace Edna Henson Hollon September 29, 1897.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Homer Lee Murphy (married in Tacoma WA, May 10, 1954) and her son the late Gregory Allen Murphy.  Three sisters; Virginia Emma Smith, Dorothy Elizabeth Mattingly & Bobby Lou Murphy, three brothers; Charlie Hollon, George Hollon and Harold Hollon.

Survivors include her sister Eddie Evelyn (Sam) Routine, three sons, Richard Lee Murphy (Casey County), Daniel Lynn Murphy, of Louisville, and Joseph Darrell Murphy (Cathy) of LaGrange. Four beautiful daughters; Celesta Carol Grigsby Springfield, Fonda Gail Fogle (Louie) Crestwood and Sheila Kaye Smith of Bardstown and Angelia Ranee Murphy of Bardstown.

She was blessed with seventeen Grandchildren and 27 Entertaining Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Bosley Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Lee officiating. Interment will follow in Ryder Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Bosley Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Ricky Murphy Jr., Frank Grigsby, Michael Fogle, Gregory Murphy Jr., Matthew Mudd, Kyle Smith, Joseph Murphy Jr., and Elijah Orberson.
