Mary Ella Glasscock, age 74 of Lebanon, passed away Monday, April 24, 2023. She was born April 12, 1949 in Lebanon, KY. The daughter of Martha Frances helm and John Chaffin Glasscock Jr. Mary Ella worked for over 35 years with the Cabinet for Children and Family Services; first as an investigator for Child Protective Services, later as Office Supervisor for Marion and Larue Counties, and finally over 20 years as a business analyst in the development of a comprehensive software application for the tracking of CPS investigations, children in foster care and adoptions. She enjoyed reading, traveling, rug hooking, local history, and genealogy research. She had tracked several of her family lines back to the early 1700's. For a number of years, she was a Sunday School teacher and later led a Wednesday night Bible Study. She was a member of a number of mission trips to Mexico, Honduras, Mississippi (after hurricane Katrina), Oklahoma, and Eastern Kentucky. During the spring and summer months she could be found gardening, working in her flowers, or doing yard work. She inherited the "I don't like housework" gene from her mother. Second only to her family, she loved junk stores; the junkier, dirtier and more cluttered the better. As a result, her children have inherited a lot of junk.

Mary Ella was preceded in death by her parents, Martha Frances Helm and John Chaffin Glasscock Jr.

Survivors include her daughter, Courtney Akers; son, Jake (Angie) Akers; brother, John Glasscock III (Annette); sister, Betty Bradshaw (Steve Baudenstial); and grandchildren, Caleb Altman, Wyatt Mattingly, and Ava and Ellie Akers.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 28, 2023 at Bosley Funeral Home, officiated by Father Terry Bradshaw and Rev. Daniel Raikes. Cremation will follow services. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Bosley Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, Mary Ella requested that a tree be planted in her honor.
