Lawrence Spalding Abell, age 73, of Lebanon, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Norton Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 27, 1949 in Lebanon, Kentucky to the late Fowler Athanasius Abell, Sr. and Anna Melvina Spalding Abell. Lawrence was an avid golfer, proud UK basketball fan and beloved husband, father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Lou Millner, Cecilia Marie Abell (infant); three brothers, James Mark Abell, Charles Patrick Abell, Thomas Milton Abell.

Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Diana Mattingly Abell of Lebanon; daughter, Shelly (Clayton) Nichols of Owensboro; son, Todd (Raylyn) Abell of Lebanon; sisters, Shelia Rose (Paul) Williams of Mt. Washington, Libby (James) Barlow of Lebanon; brother, Fowler Abell, Jr. (Martha) of Lebanon; four grandchildren, Alex (Dustin) Powell, Zachary Abell, Cameron Nichols, Carter Nichols; great-grandson, Levi Powell.

Also surviving are a host of nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 27, 2023 at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church. Interment to follow in St. Augustine Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Sunday, February 26, 2023 at Bosley Funeral Home with a prayer service that will be held at 6:00 P.M., officiated by Deacon Joe Dant.
