Joseph Bernard
"Hinkie" Ball
Feb 17, 1936 — Oct 7, 2021
Lebanon
Joseph Bernard "Hinkie" Ball, age 85, of Lebanon, passed away Thursday, October 07, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 17, 1936 to the late James Arthur Ball and Mary Christine Nelson Ball. Mr. Ball was born and raised in Loretto, Kentucky. He was a graduate of St. Joe Prep School and received a Bachelor's degree in business from Bellarmine College. Once he graduated college, he and his seven brothers started Ball Brothers Oil Company (1962-2009). He was a proud United States Army Veteran and served in the 100 th division reserves in Ft. Carson, Co. and was a pastor and teacher in his church, House of Praise Church. Bernard got his nickname "Hinkie" from when he was a young boy. He would climb out of his window and slide down the waterspout and shimmy back up. His mother would say "Hinkie Dinkie spider boo, went up and down the waterspout". Later after his grandchildren came, he was known as Pepaw and almost everyone started calling him that. He was a father figure and Pepaw to many. He never met a stranger and always wanted a house full of grandchildren, friends and family and that is what gave him the most joy. He loved the Lord with all of his heart and opened up his church (House of Praise) to serve others and the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Theresa Ball; former spouse, Mary Kevin Durham Ball; parents; five brothers, Nelson Ball, Donald Ball, Garland Ball, JA Ball, Jr., and David Ball.
Survivors include his children, Kim Hagan, Simone Bradshaw (Glen Bradshaw), Shannon Elder, Joe Ball, Jr. and grandchildren, Andrew Hagan (Meredith Hagan), Ann Rachel Hagan, Kristen Peterson (Paul Peterson), Katie Logue (Curry Logue), Alesha Harris (Joshua Harris), Justin Elder, Tristan Koprowski; great grandchildren, William Woodrow Hagan, Scarlett Logue, Thea Peterson, and Grace Harris; brother, Rudy Ball (Betty Jane Ball) and several nieces and nephews.
