James Lawrence "Sonny" Abell, Jr., age 89 of Greensburg, KY, passed away peacefully in his home and left this earth in the arms of the Heavenly Father. He was born on March 27, 1929 in Lebanon, Kentucky.
A devout Catholic, devoted husband and father, Lawrence "Sonny" Abell will always be remembered for his love and devotion to family, his fondness of UK sports and baseball, and his kind and caring heart.

He was preceded in death by:
Wife: Geneva Christine Riley Abell.
Parents: James Lawrence Abell, Sr. and Theresa Althaire Beaven Abell.
Four Sisters: Martha Smith (Robert), Hazel Parlett, Mary Elizabeth Mattingly (Richard), Cecilia Sebik (Augustus).
Brother: Joseph F. Abell.

He is survived by:
Three Sons: James L Abell III—Shepherdsville, KY;
John B. Abell—Shepherdsville, KY;
Joseph T. Abell (Elizabeth)—Shelby County, KY.
Daughter: Ann M. Cundiff (Paul)—Greensburg, KY.

Also surviving are ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 06, 2018 at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Interment to follow in Ryder Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:30 P.M. Tuesday, June 05, 2018 at Bosley Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 05, 2018 at Bosley Funeral Home.
