Elizabeth Rosemary
Ware
Dec 26, 1935 — Jul 20, 2024
Lebanon
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our mother Elizabeth Rosemary Ware who left us on July 20th, 2024. Our mom was born in 1935 on the Thomas farm in Calvary KY. In 1953 she attended a Fort Knox dance and fell in love with a GI from Hell's Kitchen NYC. Pete and Rosie married and navigated their way from Kentucky to NYC to NJ where they raised their five children (Anne-Marie (deceased), Peter, Theresa, Robin, and Thomas). When our dad retired in 1989, they moved back to Kentucky to enjoy their retired life.
Rosie, our mom, was a quilter and vivid storyteller/writer. Her beautiful patchwork quilts will keep her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren warm for generations. Her stories painted a panorama of innocence and practicality through each decade of the 20th century. Our mom was a true American artist. She was able to bring scraps of material or pieces of past memories to colorful life. Her artistry painted with a broad but defining brush for all who would listen, read, look and feel.
Our mom joins our dad Peter in heaven who passed away in 2017. Dad, your Kentucky Rose is with you again. RIP Mom.
Mrs. Ware was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Charles Ware; parents, Thomas Price and Pearl Thomas; daughter, Ann-Marie Ware, granddaughter, Heather Perez.
Survivors include her four children, Peter C. Ware, Jr. (Susan Mei) of Harrison, N.J., Theresa L. Hicks (Ted C. Cooper) of Clarksville, TN, Robin E. Ware (Sam Piper) of Longwood, FL, Thomas Ware (June) of Jamestown, PA.
Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
