Dolores Ann
Whitlock
Jun 20, 1929 — Nov 17, 2022
Lebanon
Dolores Ann Whitlock, age 93 of Lebanon, passed away peacefully on the evening of November 17, 2022 at the Loretto Motherhouse.
She was born on June 20, 1929 in New Market, Kentucky to the late Robert Henry Whitlock and Carrie Mae Benningfield Whitlock, and was a member of the St. Augustine High School class of 1947. After high school, Dolores attended Ursuline College (now Bellarmine University) where she received her bachelor's degree. Following an internship at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, she began her decades-long career as a nutritionist and ultimately retired from Hazelwood Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
A firm believer in optimizing her work-life balance, she often reminded friends and family that she spent more years retired than working. Her lengthy retirement was spent volunteering, playing bingo and cardplaying with her extensive group of friends and family. Her captivating personality was underscored by her keen sense of humor and candor, sometimes to a fault. A devout Catholic, Dolores was a parishioner of St. Augustine Catholic Church.
Besides her parents, Dolores was preceded in death by her sisters, Almarine Hickey and Marcella Long; her brothers, Conway Whitlock and Jimmie Whitlock; and nieces and nephews, John Hickey Jr., Robert Henry Hickey, Mary Ellen Hickey, Rita Mattingly Whitlock, and Jimmy Whitlock Jr.
Survivors include her sister, Laura Etta Smith of Lebanon, brother Robert Henry Whitlock, Jr. (Nancy) of Clearwater, Florida; 28 nieces and nephews; and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews, who all loved her dearly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. Monday, November 21, 2022 at Bosley Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. officiated by Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Sisters of Loretto, Loretto Finance/Development Office, 515 Nerinx Rd, Nerinx, KY 40049 (designate Motherhouse Infirmary) or donate online at www.lorettocommunity.org.
