Carroll Gene Kirkland's Obituary
Mr. Carroll Gene Kirkland, age 69 of Bradfordsville, KY, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Norton Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was born on February 2, 1949 in Danville, KY. Mr. Kirkland was best known for his public service to Marion County. He served as Deputy Sheriff from 1982 to 1995, and served as Marion County Sheriff from 1996 to 2010. In 1993, Carroll received the award of Outstanding Emergency Services Person. A reception in his honor was held in January 2011 as outgoing sheriff in which Carroll stated: "It's been a privilege and honor to serve the people of Marion County". Always concerned about the welfare of the citizens of the county, Carroll had a special interest in children, often making sure disadvantaged children received Christmas gifts.
More recently, Carroll enjoyed working with Crops Production Services.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John T. and Mary Elizabeth Coulter Kirkland.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Brady Kirkland, of Bradfordsville, KY; daughter, Marcia Hardin (Jody), of Lebanon, KY; son, Chad Kirkland (Kinsley), of Lebanon, KY; brother, Ronnie Allen Kirkland (Karen), of Bradfordsville, KY; sister, Shirley Kirkland Farmer, of Finley, KY; seven grandchildren, Brandon Hardin (Amanda), Dallas Kirkland, John Kirkland, Carson McGaha (Lauren Nunn), Brantlee McGaha, Terri Sheridan and Layla Sheridan; three great-grandchildren, Chase Hardin, Addi Kelly and Sawyer McGaha. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Bosley Funeral Home, officiated by Brother John Simpson. Interment to follow in Old Liberty Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
